Opiate overdose is a serious soical problem nowadays. Opiate drugs that are commonly used for pain relief and relaxation are now being used recreationally.The symptoms of an opiate overdose include the classic triad of coma, pinpoint pupils, and respiratory depression as well as altered mental states, shock, pulmonary edema and unresponsiveness. Complications include bradycardia, hypotension, and hypothermia.
Narcan is very effective reversing the cause, rather than just the symptoms, of an opioid overdose.Its generic being naloxone, a stronger variant is naltrexone.
